Russia Oppose Sanctions Against Iran

MOSCOW (AFP) - Russia remains opposed to unilateral sanctions on Iran although it has banned shipments of air defense missile systems S-300 into the country earlier in the week inik, firmly Mentei Foreign Affairs Sergei Lavrov on Saturday.
"They (sanctions unilaterally) is a violation, even without mentioning the legal aspects of this problem," Lavrov said in an interview with state television Rossiya i was quoted as saying by Interfax news agency. The interview was broadcast Saturday night.
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has issued a decree on September 22, which prohibits delivery of S-300 systems and other weapons to Iran, which has been criticized by tindakah Tehran.

Russian officials have promised not to send S-300 after the support of the fourth round of UN Security Council sanctions against Iran last June for refusing to suspend its uranium enrichment program. Uranium enrichment by Iran, according to Western countries and a number of other countries, aimed at developing atomic weapons.
